چکیده

The influence of two different fluoride-based activator salts (NH4F and AlF3) was studied for diffusion aluminide coatings obtained via pack cementation on a Ni-based superalloy (René 108DS). resistance to oxidation hot corrosion assessed as function the concentration used during synthesis process by means cementation. Two concentrations were selected (respecting equimolarity fluoride in synthesis) compared terms morphology, thickness composition, well microstructural evolution after high temperature exposure. Isothermal tests conducted at 1050 °C air 100 h tubular furnace. kinetics evaluated measuring weight variation with exposure time. induced investigated SEM microscopy, EDS analysis X-ray diffraction. Results showed that AlF3 salt are thicker than those using NH4F consequence growth mechanism pack-cementation. Despite this evidence, it found show better resistance, both total mass gain quality microstructure thermally grown oxide. On other hand, produced exhibited conditions, showing negligible variations 200 aggressive NaCl Na2SO4 salts.

Diffusion Welding of Nickel-based Superalloys

Ni based superalloys can be welded by diffusion bonding. Temperature, diffusion coefficient, activation energy and Boltzmann constant influence the quality of diffusion bonding, so obtaining the best condition for welding is considered. Showing the suitable condition for diffusion welding of nickel-based superalloys is the aim of this paper.

Development of Oxidation Protection Coatings for Gamma Titanium Aluminide Alloys

Metallic material systems play a key role in meeting the stringent weight and durability requirements for reusable launch vehicle (RLV) airframe hot structures. Gamma titanium aluminides (γTiAl) have been identified as high-payoff materials for high-temperature applications. The low density and good elevated temperature mechanical properties of γ-TiAl alloys make them attractive candidates for ...

Cyclic oxidation-induced cracking of platinum-modified nickel-aluminide coatings

Short cracks, extending to the interdiffusion zone, have been observed in platinum-modified nickel-aluminide diffusion coatings on single-crystal CMSX-4 superalloys after these have been subject to short (10 min) rapid thermal cycles. The cracks were revealed after removing the thermally grown oxide formed during cycling on the coating surfaces. Cracking was observed for coatings subject to the...

Formation and Evaluation of Oxidation Behavior of Zirconia- Aluminide Coating on Nickel- Based Alloy

Practical applications of thermal barrier coatings with aluminide bond-coats are limited due to oxide scale spallation of the aluminide coating under applied thermal stresses. Considering the positive effects of oxygen-active elements or their oxides on the high temperature oxidation behavior, in this research zirconia was introduced into an aluminide coating. For this purpose, a Watts type bat...
